Man Arrested After Discovering Human Remains in Backyard Allegedly Sent Photo of Missing Father to Police

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after police discovered human remains buried in his backyard while searching for his missing father.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office sought a search warrant for Andres Bahamon’s home in Dunnellon, Florida, following allegations that he sent a photo of his dead father to his mother in Germany. Police began searching for 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada on Saturday after he went missing since May 7.

According to the arrest warrant, investigators found what they believe to be blood on the door frame, a bullet casing on the floor, and bullets inside the home during their search of Bahamon’s residence. The search uncovered freshly disturbed dirt with an odor of decomposition, beneath which was a large rolled-up carpet containing human remains.

Bahamon was identified as a person of interest and arrested Monday on charges of tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Marion County Jail without bond.

The suspect’s mother told police that Bahamon allegedly threatened to kill her after learning the photo had been reported to law enforcement. She also stated that Bahamon described his missing father as “evil” and a “junkie.”

Police are searching for the victim’s silver 2007 Infinity M35, which may contain critical evidence in the case.
