A grieving family in Smith County, Texas is mourning the death of their 23-year-old daughter, Madison Riley Hull, after she was killed by three pit bull dogs she cared for. Deputies responding to a November 21st call at the home reported that Miss Hull was found lying injured in the backyard.
Miss Hull’s mother, Jennifer Hubbell, described her daughter as “Madi was love, she was light, she was kindness, she was laughter, she was fierce in the most beautiful and disarming way.” She added that Madison lived life with passion: “She loved life with her whole heart and moved through the world with a free-spirit that lifted those around her.”
According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted by a neighbor. Upon arrival, reports indicate Hull was attacked while they tried to intervene. Sgt. Larry Christian stated the dogs appeared aggressive towards responding officers as well.
To ensure control of the dangerous animals, one deputy fired his weapon at two of the pit bulls during the rescue attempt. This action resulted in the immediate deaths of both targeted dogs, causing the remaining dog to retreat and allowing deputies access to safely assist Miss Hull.
Despite this intervention, Madison Riley Hull was later pronounced dead. Investigators are now considering criminal charges against the owners of the three dogs involved in the incident.
