Idaho has enacted a law prohibiting school districts from using taxpayer funds to support teachers’ unions, ending what state officials describe as an unfair advantage for these organizations.
House Bill 516a, introduced in January and signed into law on April 10, bars school districts—including specially chartered districts—along with their agents or representatives, from using or authorizing the use of public funds to support teachers’ unions.
The legislation follows Idaho’s longstanding criticism of American teachers’ unions for political meddling, holding schools hostage, and transforming children into “leftist foot soldiers.”
“That’s just restoring neutrality.”
