Shocking Link Uncovered: Authorities Probe Ties Between Brown University Shooting and MIT Professor’s Fatal Attack

Authorities have identified a person of interest in connection with the deadly Brown University shooting that occurred on Saturday. A warrant has been issued for this individual, and law enforcement officials are actively investigating possible connections between the incident and the fatal shooting of Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Nuno Loureiro days later.

Professor Loureiro, 47, was shot multiple times in his Brookline home on Monday night and died shortly after. A neighbor described the attack as “a surprise … and a shooting in a state where it’s so hard to even have a gun?” and noted that a nearby vehicle appeared parked in the wrong direction, seemingly waiting.

While the FBI initially stated there was no connection between the two shootings, multiple individuals familiar with the investigation indicated evidence suggesting a link exists. Authorities believe the person of interest rented a vehicle matching the make and model used in Professor Loureiro’s shooting. A suspect was detained over the weekend but later released after it was determined they were the wrong individual.
