Vance Leads Turning Point USA Straw Poll with 84.2% for 2028 Republican Nomination

A recent straw poll conducted at Turning Point USA’s national conference reveals Vice President JD Vance as the overwhelming front-runner for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, securing support from 84.2% of attendees.

The survey also showed former President Donald Trump receiving backing from 82.6% of voters in a prior straw poll for the 2024 contest. Vance’s current lead surpasses Trump’s previous tally by margin. Secretary of State Marco Rubio earned 4.8% support, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump Jr. garnered 2.9% and 1.8%, respectively.

When queried about the United States’ relationship with Israel, a third of respondents identified Israel as the nation’s top ally. Another 53.4% viewed it as one among many allies, while only 13.3% stated Israel was not an ally at all.

On immigration policy, 89.5% of attendees expressed support for a U.S. immigration moratorium, with just 10.5% opposing the measure.

The poll also ranked threats to America, placing “radical Islam” first, followed by “socialism/Marxism,” and “mass migration” in third position. The lowest concerns cited were “low fertility” and “technology/AI.”

Vance spoke at the conference and was endorsed by Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk for the presidency. He has not yet launched an official campaign.
