A disturbing discovery was made by police at a Minnesota home after a 14-year-old girl went missing from her school on May 26.
The parents reported their daughter missing to the Maplewood Police Department, and the girl’s father told officers she might have been with a friend in Oakdale.
“Her whole top half is out, and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on here? Why are you naked in front of a child?’” police said when describing the incident.
Authorities investigated the home and spoke to Angeline Olson. She told officers the girl was not present but would take her home if she arrived.
Police returned to the scene after a neighbor reported at about 1:30 a.m., saying, “I came outside to smoke, and I’m minding my own business, and all of a sudden this little girl comes running past out her house, right in front of me, half naked.”
“Next thing you know, Angel’s out the bushes, and Angel comes out naked. Like, her whole top half is out, and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on here? Why are you naked in front of a child?’” Teaira Vennes, the neighbor who called police, said.
The Olsons were found arguing with officers and defied orders, leading to their detention. When police searched the home, they discovered the girl hidden in a cardboard box under a pile of clothes in the couple’s bedroom.
Authorities later obtained warrants to search the couples’ digital devices and found sexually explicit videos involving the Olsons and the victim.
The couple was arrested. Angeline Olson, 47, faces charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, while Andrew Olson, 49, is charged with three counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Neighbors who were outraged and terrified by the incident told KARE-TV that Child Protective Services had removed their teenage children prior to the event.
Vennes stated, “It’s not just another story; it’s another fking victim. It’s another little girl.” She added, “After going through this, I couldn’t never imagine that happening to my daughter.”
Andrew Olson’s lawyer, John Chitwood, said, “My client is presumed innocent and looks forward to clearing his name where it counts: in court.”
Andrew Olson faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted, while Angeline Olson could receive up to 30 years.
Vennes concluded, “They need to be locked up. I hope that they are locked up for a very, very long time.”
