A newly released mug shot reveals a bloodied face of Ronald Jeffery Johnson, a 51-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale, who allegedly challenged an off-duty police officer to a fight inside the hospital emergency department.
The incident occurred at Broward Health Medical Center on August 29. According to an arrest report, Johnson reportedly yelled at medical staff when an off-duty police officer in full uniform was notified of the disturbance. The officer stated that Johnson “was observed yelling at medical staff from the opposite side of the registration desk, causing a breach of peace in the waiting room and creating fear in the surrounding patients.”
After spotting the officer, Johnson allegedly confronted him directly.
