Arizona Cardinals defensive back Kei’Trel Clark has become the second Muslim player to receive a fine from the NFL in the past week, according to league officials.
Clark posted an Instagram story detailing the NFL’s correspondence, stating he was “in violation of the NFL Uniform and Equipment Rules.” The letter specifically cited that he displayed a personal message on his eye black.
The message, which Clark wore during a September 13 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, read “Glory Be 2 God …” with a peace sign in the middle. This appears to directly violate Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL rulebook, which prohibits players from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages visible to the stadium or television audience during game day.
Clark has now been fined by the league for this violation.
