Marckus Plaza Hops Fence to Escape Police After Woman Stabbed to Death

Wisconsin police released video of suspect Marckus Plaza fleeing after the stabbing death of a woman at her Kenosha home on Wednesday.

Kenosha authorities were called to a residence near 75th Street and 22nd Avenue for a welfare check on the victim, according to police. Her friend told officers that her estranged husband had been physically abusive toward her.

“I never would have thought nothing of it,” the friend stated. “He seemed like a cool dude, held the door, he came in with his kids.”

Police observed Plaza dragging a body inside the home before he provided a fake name to authorities after they gained entry. He later hopped a fence to escape, recorded on surveillance video and released by law enforcement.

The woman was found stabbed to death in her basement, with police also discovering a bent phone at the scene. Her two children were present inside the residence.

Plaza, described as a black man weighing approximately 190 pounds and standing 5’6”, was last seen wearing dark sweatpants and a white tank top. He escaped on foot and is reportedly seeking transportation to flee the area.

Law enforcement released footage showing Plaza hopping a fence into what appears to be a neighbor’s yard. Court documents indicate the woman had obtained a restraining order against Plaza, and he faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon.

A local resident named Bobby Johnson confirmed prior encounters with Plaza: “I’ve seen him at the gas station before,” Johnson said. “I never would have thought nothing of it. He seemed like a cool dude, held the door, he came in with his kids.”
