Congresswoman Crockett Turns to Soccer to Argue White Supremacy Persists in Modern Culture

During a Tuesday congressional hearing on the Smithsonian’s efforts to reshape American history, Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) defended recent changes to the historic museum by stating, “Welcome to the Republicans’ white-pride rally.”

The hearing, titled “Rewriting American History: Examining the Smithsonian’s Efforts to Reshape the Past,” centered on whether the institution has become too progressive or anti-white. Crockett used her limited speaking time to question Yale University history professor David Blight about the recent World Cup tournament, saying: “The World Cup that captured the imaginations of the entire world when they saw all of these people of color playing for all these teams, and ultimately, if you recall, the last two teams, it was Argentina and Spain.”
