A passenger described being deeply unsettled after her family’s favorite waiter was detained during a recent Disney cruise voyage.
Illegal alien activist groups are demanding answers over what they term “abductions” of crew members in front of passengers by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Benjamin Prado, from Union del Barrio, spoke at a press conference on San Diego’s pier alongside other migrant advocacy groups to express outrage that ICE was conducting its duties.
“It was really unsettling,” Prado said. “Does the family even know that he’s not getting back on the ship today?”
“This is not an isolated incident,” Prado added. “In fact, it has become a growing pattern, not only here in San Diego but throughout this country.”
Prado also claimed that the detainees were being denied their due process rights and access to legal representation.
“It is our responsibility as a society, as working people, to denounce these actions by Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” Prado stated. “The prolonged detention of migrant workers—whether here in our own community or those who work on ships—is unacceptable.”
