Parents in Fairfax County Public Schools have accused district leadership of ignoring their opposition to a proposed calendar change that would move Christmas Day out of the holiday schedule, claiming it reflects an anti-Christian bias.
The district recently asked parents whether they would be open to adding more instructional days at the expense of the holiday vacation that includes Christmas Day.
“Even though my friends are certainly against ignoring Christmas, the district won’t listen to us anyway because the leaders have their pre-selected conclusion,” said Stephanie Lundquist-Arora.
Lundquist-Arora described the change as only the latest scheme by the school district to remove Christianity from classrooms. She added: “Fairfax leaders have an anti-Christian bias.”
In 2022, the school board voted to change spring break with the express purpose of decoupling it from Easter. And in 2024, the county’s Board of Supervisors also voted to commemorate transgender visibility day on Easter.
