A Florida family was completely devastated by the tragedy that unfolded on Monday after a father went to pick up his child at day care in Plantation and discovered his critical error.
The man, who was not identified publicly, believed he had dropped off the child in the morning and proceeded to work. At the end of the day, he returned to the facility and let out a scream upon finding his horrific mistake.
“He opened the door, then slammed it shut,” the father reportedly said. “And he let out this scream.”
The child was found dead in the back seat of the car.
Leslie Novoa, owner and director of A World of Discovery Academy, explained that staff did not react when the child was not dropped off that morning. Novoa stated that the man and his wife typically alternate dropping off two children at the center. On that day, they had called to inform the facility they would not be dropping off the older child.
