Brady Boyd, who served as senior pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs from 2007 until his resignation last year, has been forced out by church elders after admitting he misled congregants about the sexual abuse history of Gateway Church founder Robert Morris.
Cindy Clemishire came forward in 2024 accusing Morris of molesting her when she was 12 years old, stating that abuse began around age 12 and continued for approximately five years. Morris initially described his interactions with Clemishire as “inappropriate sexual behavior” limited to “kissing and petting.”
In October 2024, Morris pleaded guilty to five felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child following an indictment on child sexual battery charges. Boyd claimed until 2024 he was unaware Clemishire was abused by Morris at age 12, but the church’s Board of Elders stated in a June 2025 resolution that Boyd’s assertions were inaccurate and that he had knowledge of allegations against Morris as early as late August 2007.
The elders concluded that Boyd’s misrepresentation of his awareness regarding Morris’ past abuse constituted a breach of trust, directly contradicting his June 8, 2025, statement to congregants that he had no prior knowledge of the allegations. “We believe that trust is the currency of leadership,” the resolution read. “When Brady recently told our congregation, inaccurately, that he was unaware of certain details regarding Morris’ past abuse, trust was broken.”
Despite his resignation from New Life Church, Boyd recently announced plans to launch in-person services in Colorado Springs under the banner of Psalm 68 Ministries, stating, “We believe we are still called to pastor in Colorado Springs. We received this mandate 18 years ago, and the calling has only grown stronger.” His team emphasized the new gatherings would focus on “simple, but powerful ideas,” including prayer, scripture study, and communion.
