Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt Arrested Again After Claiming She Was “In Heaven” and in Houston

Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt has been arrested twice within the past six months, according to court documents.

Early Saturday morning, police in Texas City responded to a report of a car parked in the left lane of Highway 3. At around 1:30 a.m., officers discovered Wyatt fast asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with the engine running and hazard lights activated.

The arrest was for a subsequent offense involving driving while intoxicated, court documents state. When the officer woke Wyatt up after opening the door and turning off the ignition for safety reasons, she claimed to be “in heaven” and in Houston, despite Houston being over 40 miles away.

Court records indicate that Wyatt also stated she was there for a conference in Galveston later that morning. Initially, she told officers she had consumed one glass of wine at home around 10 p.m. the previous night but later revised her account to say she had two glasses.

The officer noted that Wyatt smelled alcohol and appeared unsteady on her feet. Additionally, Wyatt expressed concern about taking a field sobriety test due to a previous foot injury.
