The controversy followed a year in which Kimmel was temporarily removed from the air after making remarks about an alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel returned to the stage Tuesday night following his summer break to celebrate reaching his 4,000th show. During this broadcast, he did not address reports regarding the network’s decision to end his run.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Kimmel’s contract is not being extended and the move has no connection to the Trump administration.
