San Francisco Police Clash With Trans Marchers During Arrest of Two Suspects

According to police, two suspects were vandalizing property and assaulted one person during San Francisco’s Trans March. The arrest of these individuals led to a clash with marchers who attempted to free them from officers, resulting in the arrest of three marchers and injuries to two police officers.

A witness described the scene: “People were dancing, children were running around. It was just joyful. And suddenly the police came running. Some of them had their guns drawn, batons out.”

Police reported that one suspect sprayed paint on another marcher while vandalizing property. When officers attempted to arrest the suspects, marchers surrounded them and obstructed the officers.

A woman who witnessed the melee told reporters: “I’m crying because it was just so shocking to see such a peaceful, beautiful event just be basically run over by police out of nowhere over somebody spray-painting.” The woman, who wished to remain anonymous as Missy, said the police should have let the suspects go rather than fight back against the marchers.
