A video of the incident has gone viral, showing an Arizona State University senior allegedly punching a police officer and interfering in an arrest on Mill Avenue in Tempe during the summer — after which law enforcement used force against her and criminally charged her.
Eryn Bonner, a Tempe resident, faces two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct under state law and interfering with police under city code. The incident occurred in July when Bonner reportedly punched an officer multiple times.
According to Tempe City officials, the video depicts Bonner striking the officer with her fists and legs before the officer responded by sitting over her. The city confirmed that Bonner’s actions constitute aggravated assault as defined by law.
