Presidential candidate Donald Trump recently labeled U.S. Representative Mike Collins of Georgia a “Friend, Fighter, and WARRIOR,” a endorsement that proved decisive in the state’s Republican Senate runoff election on Tuesday. Over 700,000 votes were cast in the pivotal contest, securing Collins victory with approximately 56% of the vote against Derek Dooley, a former University of Tennessee Volunteers football coach.
Collins secured his win just two days before Election Day after Trump publicly endorsed him on Truth Social, describing him as “a Highly Respected Congressman who has been with me from the very beginning.” The margin of victory mirrored Collins’ performance in the May primary, where he garnered nearly 41% of votes compared to Dooley’s 30%. In the runoff, Collins maintained a narrow lead over Dooley—gaining roughly 11 points while Dooley finished with nearly 45% of the vote.
Despite Dooley outperforming Collins in Atlanta-area counties including Fulton County, Collins emerged victorious by the same margin that separated them during the primary election.
