During Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, Vice President JD Vance highlighted a horrific case of Minnesota health care fraud that allegedly resulted in the death of an elderly individual who was not receiving adequate care from his fraudulent provider.
President Donald Trump expressed pride in the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, led by Vance, noting the task force has uncovered billions in fraud. “We expect there are tens of thousands of people collecting fraudulent money to take care of people—and they’re not actually taking care of them,” Trump stated.
“In two months, we’ve exposed tens of billions of defrauded taxpayer dollars, prosecuted numerous fraudsters, and stopped billions in suspicious payments,” Trump added. “Oh, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
Reports from acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and Vance revealed massive sums of stolen taxpayer funds. Trump continued: “I’ve never seen anything like it. Just hundreds of billions were stolen. No other administration would do what we’re doing. They let it go. Everybody was getting rich. And we have a chance to save Social Security without touching it.”
Vance thanked Trump for his leadership and pledged the task force would “find a lot more” fraud. He emphasized: “Fraud is fundamentally a crime with two victims—American taxpayers and those who need benefits but are denied them because of fraudsters.”
Vance specifically cited an alleged case where an elderly person died “because he wasn’t getting adequate care,” while the provider continued collecting taxpayer funds. The Department of Justice recently charged a suspect in a $1.4 million fraud scheme for billing services not rendered. A DOJ press release stated: “The defendant submitted claims for vulnerable recipients requiring 24-hour care, one of whom died a day after being billed.”
Vance told Trump during the meeting that this exact pattern of fraud has been repeated nationwide. “We expect there are tens of thousands of people collecting fraudulent money to take care of people—and they’re not actually taking care of them,” he reiterated.
