U.S. Designates Italian Hacker Collective as Terrorist Group Behind Antifa Attacks on Border Patrol

The U.S. Department of State has officially labeled an Italian hacker group known as the Autistici/Inventati Collective as a terrorist organization, marking it as a specially designated global terrorist group.

This designation follows findings that the collective provides critical support to far-left extremists by offering encryption services and web hosting for their operations. The group has been identified as a central node in what the State Department describes as “the far-left’s war on our civilization.”

Federal authorities reported that Autistici/Inventati Collective has facilitated violent activities by U.S. Antifa cells, including Portland’s Rose City faction. These activities include doxxing ICE agents, inciting attacks against them at their homes, and organizing laser attacks on Border Patrol helicopters. A poster from the group urged followers to “take back the night” by shining lasers at customs aircraft.

The State Department also noted that websites hosted by the collective contain detailed guides for arson, bombings, and sabotage targeting critical infrastructure such as bridges, pipelines, and military logistics centers. Additionally, the sites have been used by extremists to boast about terrorist acts, including bomb threats against police vehicles and federal buildings, as well as attacks by groups like “Jane’s Revenge” that targeted pregnancy centers from Colorado to New York.

International incidents linked to the group include a deadly attack on Germany’s power grid and sabotage of Italy’s rail line during the 2026 Winter Olympics, which led to seven arrests for terrorism-related charges.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. has sanctioned Autistici/Inventati Collective as part of efforts to counter “far-left terrorist networks.” He emphasized that such groups pose a profound threat to the United States and the broader West.

The Department of State concluded that it will continue its mission to “crush transnational far-left terror networks” and ensure no safe haven for those who seek to “violently overthrow free societies.”
