A suspect reportedly hid inside a victim’s car before firing twice at her as she attempted to flee, struck her in the head with a handgun, and held her while reloading the weapon during an incident at the Orange County (Florida) Courthouse parking garage on Wednesday.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:30 a.m. after reports of shots fired at the courthouse facility, temporarily halting court operations for several hours as they investigated what was described as an attempted murder. Deputies later captured 26-year-old Kenneth Jerome Logan Jr., who remains in custody on multiple charges.
The victim, identified as married to Logan, told investigators she had gone to the downtown Orlando courthouse seeking an injunction against him. After parking her car in the garage, she returned to the vehicle and noticed the seat position had been altered with something concealed in the back seat. She exited the car and saw Logan point a handgun at her before he fired twice as she attempted to run away.
Logan grabbed her dropped cell phone, caught up with her, struck her head with the gun, and held her while trying to reload. The sheriff’s office confirmed the woman was not injured during the incident. As Logan attempted to reload, she escaped toward an elevator, and he fled the scene after throwing an object inside her vehicle.
During the altercation, Logan repeatedly asked the victim, “Why are you doing this to me?” Deputies lifted a lockdown in the afternoon while searching for him. Logan was denied bond and remained jailed Monday per court records.
