Blaze Media has discovered that DNSFilter, an internet security service designed to block malicious content, is actively censoring conservative media outlets while leaving left-wing sites unaffected.
In tests conducted by the company, five major conservative news sites were flagged by DNSFilter as “contentious” and “misinformation,” resulting in content warnings that blocked users from accessing them. These included Blaze News.
Conversely, prominent conservative platforms such as The Daily Wire, Breitbart, Turning Point USA, Fox News, and the Babylon Bee were not blocked. Left-wing outlets including The Guardian, Slate, and Vice also passed through DNSFilter without any restrictions.
The findings come amid reports that Blaze News had previously been blacklisted by NewsGuard and the Global Disinformation Index to demonetize its content.
Amber Duke, editor in chief of The Daily Caller, commented on the issue: “Clearly it is incorrect, biased, or both.”
