Netflix Cancels ‘Boots’ Series After Pentagon Labels It ‘Woke Garbage’

Netflix has canceled its series “Boots” after one season, following criticism from the Pentagon that labeled it “woke garbage.”

The show centers on Cameron Cope, a Louisiana teenager who finds purpose and brotherhood with his fellow recruits during the 1990s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” era of military service.

Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson stated that U.S. military standards are “elite, uniform, and sex-neutral,” emphasizing they do not discriminate based on sexual orientation. He added: “[The military] will not compromise our standards to satisfy an ideological agenda, unlike Netflix whose leadership consistently produces and feeds woke garbage to their audience and children.”

The series is adapted from Greg Cope White’s memoir “The Pink Marine” and holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.9 score on IMDB.

Online reactions have suggested the cancellation was driven by concerns over displeasing President Trump, with some indicating Netflix sought to avoid antagonizing the administration ahead of potential mergers.
