A self-described lover of communism has been deactivated from DoorDash after allegedly canceling food orders for a Department of Homeland Security detention center in Buffalo, New York and redirecting the meals to her local pantry.
The account operating under the handle “nixxslingerland” posted messages on social media describing how it took food ordered by the detention center and delivered it to her community pantry. The user’s profile photo featured a “Black Lives Matter” shirt.
In one post, she wrote: “Just dropped off another cancelled nazi DoorDash to my free pantry and was handed this large bag of m&ms in return.” She added: “I love communism.”
The user also stated: “For new people who are unaware, there’s unfortunately a detention center right in my town, and every single time I contact support and tell them they need to remove the location completely, I doubt they ever will, but it still feels good getting their orders cancelled and donating their food.”
DoorDash confirmed that the user’s account had been deactivated after it was found she misused the platform’s safety-unassign feature. In a statement, DoorDash said: “Misusing the safety-unassign feature to intentionally cancel orders and redirect the food based on where it’s going is theft and a violation of both our Community Guidelines and Platform Access Policy.”
The company also noted that when its support team attempted to address the report and explain its policies, the user was abusive toward an agent.
