Haley Popp, owner of Hive Bakery in Flower Mound, Texas, has publicly vowed to stay open for the Fourth of July despite expressing deep disappointment with the current political climate under the Trump administration.
In a post on her Facebook account, Popp stated that she and her bakery “do not feel like celebrating the 4th this year” due to embarrassment and fear over what she described as the nation’s deterioration. She labeled supporters of the MAGA movement as “a cult of unintelligent, rabid, immoral sycophants,” accusing them of perpetuating a “fascist regime” that seeks to bring about the bakery’s destruction.
Popp claimed her political messaging has drawn significant support from liberal customers who have purchased T-shirts and woke-themed baked goods in solidarity with her stance against Trump administration policies. This pattern of engagement began in 2022, when she posted pro-abortion messages leading to a line forming at the bakery and sold-out items among supporters. By early 2025, reports indicated she profited substantially from reactions to conservative backlash.
Popp has long emphasized her support for LGBTQ rights, Black Lives Matter, and women’s rights since opening Hive Bakery in 2021.
