Former State Department Press Adviser Britt McHenry Forced to Resign After NBA Game Confrontation

A video obtained by an anonymous source shows former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry at a Washington Wizards game on Wednesday, where she tossed a drink at a fan before blowing a kiss twice as she left the section.

According to a person familiar with the matter, McHenry was asked to resign as the U.S. State Department’s press adviser on Thursday after being promoted to the position just hours earlier.

“She was promoted and fired within 24 hours,” the source said.

The State Department declined to comment on internal personnel matters.

Andrew Fenichel, a YouTuber who claimed he was present at the game, stated that the fan made misogynistic and inappropriate comments about the players. Fenichel added that McHenry left the scene and he watched the rest of the game from another section. He also clarified that he is “not MAGA” despite his friendship with McHenry.

Multiple witnesses reported that the rowdy fan initially tossed a drink at McHenry, after which fans booed and chanted, “Get her out!”

In 2017, McHenry was dismissed for her conservative views and later filed a lawsuit alleging repeated sexual harassment by a co-host. The case settled, and she left the company.

The Washington Wizards won their home opener 128 to 116.
