Texas Republicans Rally in Weatherford Urge Voters to ‘Vote the Bible’ Amid Senate Election Fears

Thousands of Republican supporters flooded Weatherford, Texas, for a major campaign rally Thursday, where top GOP officials including Vice President JD Vance and Rep. Brandon Gill (Texas) urged voters to “vote the Bible” ahead of next Tuesday’s elections.

Attendees expressed significant concern over Democrat James Talarico—commonly referred to as James “Talafreako” by speakers at the event—gaining a Senate seat. One attendee told reporters they remained optimistic about Sen. Ken Paxton’s chances but acknowledged, “I was disappointed that there is as much support for Talarico as there is.”

The gathering drew large crowds to the Joe R. Jones Construction building, with attendees filling the warehouse and spilling into parking lots. Many emphasized the “morality of Texas” hanging in the balance during the Senate race, consistently highlighting abortion rights, participation of men in women’s sports, gender-transitioning youth issues, and preserving Christian values as central concerns for voters.

Vance joked about the event’s warmth while noting the room was “packed with enthusiastic attendees anxious to hear him speak.” Attendees stressed the urgency of voting the Bible as a path to “voting right,” with many stating their message to Republicans was simply: “Go vote.”

This rally marked the first event many attendees had attended, and most live in North Texas near the venue. The gathering follows Vance’s recent cancellation of a planned fraud announcement event in Minnesota.
