A transgender high school student named AB Hernandez, who was born male but identifies as female, has become the focal point of online controversy after a recent report claimed she defeated President Donald Trump’s “vitriol.”
The article described Hernandez as a track athlete competing against biological girls in California and winning three titles in the girls’ division. Social media critics have lambasted the report, labeling it a “woke joke” and a “disgrace to journalism.”
One user, Jennifer Sey, founder of XX-XY Athletics, stated: “This boy is the CA state champion in two girls’ track and field events. The report chose this as their headline. Hernandez beat Trump. That’s their takeaway. What a truly broken brain wrote this.”
Comedian Rob Schneider added to the backlash with a comment: “Hey, crappy report, let me fix the title for you.. ‘SY FAILED MALE ATHLETE ALLOWED TO BEAT GIRLS…’ There!! Fixed!!”
Another user noted: “Well it’s Pride month so the report sucks up to the LGBTQIA in spite how these girls show how they feel by the looks on their faces that they were cheated because of this boy in makeup.”
The report referenced President Trump’s threat to cut federal funding from California over Hernandez competing in girls’ sports following his executive order restricting transgender-identifying athletes. The president had previously declared: “California, under the leadership of Radical Left Democrat Gavin Newscum, continues to ILLEGALLY allow ‘MEN TO PLAY IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.’”
The California Interscholastic Federation adopted a rule allowing transgender students to compete while ensuring displaced female athletes retain their records if they win titles.
