Trump Drops $10 Billion IRS Lawsuit After DOJ Mandates Fund for “Lawfare” Victims

President Donald Trump has dropped his lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service on Monday following a settlement that compels the Department of Justice to establish a fund for government lawfare victims.

The legal action, which Trump, his two eldest sons, and the Trump Organization filed in January for $10 billion, arose after a former IRS contractor admitted to leaking Trump’s tax documents to left-leaning media outlets. Court filings reveal the complaint was dismissed with prejudice as part of the agreement.

Under the terms of the settlement, Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization will receive a formal apology but no monetary damages from the IRS. The Department of Justice announced that in exchange for creating the fund, Trump’s legal team agreed to withdraw their pending lawsuit and two administrative claims: one concerning an alleged unlawful raid of Mar-a-Lago and another related to the Russia-collusion hoax.

A DOJ statement emphasized: “The machinery of government should never be weaponized against any American, and it is this department’s intention to make right the wrongs that were previously done while ensuring this never happens again.”
