Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner (D) has warned that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents deployed at Philadelphia International Airport will face arrest and prosecution for committing crimes within the city’s jurisdiction.
Speaking at the airport on Tuesday, Krasner stated: “You commit crimes within the jurisdiction that is the city and county of Philadelphia — I prosecute you.” He added that mass deportation is “immoral,” but stressed that his personal views do not override his duty to enforce the law.
Krasner also referenced recent violent incidents in Minneapolis, where unarmed civilians were killed, cautioning that such actions would lead to legal consequences: “We are not having that here.”
The White House has condemned Krasner’s remarks, describing him as “sick and deranged.” A government spokesperson noted: “If you don’t like it, Larry, tell your fellow Democrats to fund DHS.”
DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis defended ICE officers, stating they are critical in arresting criminals including murderers, rapists, pedophiles, gang members, and terrorists. She reported a more than 1,300% increase in assaults against ICE agents following such rhetoric, citing the recent fatal shooting of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman by a Venezuelan criminal illegal alien.
