Newly released Department of War documents have detailed an incident involving unidentified aerial phenomena near a sensitive U.S. military facility, according to a current intelligence official.
The documents reveal that in 2025, the official was part of a team dispatched to investigate unusual noises and sightings of “orb-like” objects on a test range. Their mission focused on loud thuds heard in the mountains that coincided with reports of such objects over several nights.
During a helicopter flight at low altitude, the intelligence officer observed an object that emerged and accelerated out of sight before splitting into two parts and changing direction. The officer also discovered a large cave entrance without any visible end but found no safe landing spot for his aircraft. Realizing they were running low on fuel, the pilots took him to a prearranged rendezvous point where one unknown official was dropped off before proceeding to refuel at a tanker.
Shortly after, their Joint Operations Center detected radar hits in the same area where previous sightings had been reported.
