On Saturday morning in the Bronx, NYPD Warrant Squad officers entered the apartment of 44-year-old Lucien Colon at approximately 6:45 a.m. to serve a parole warrant. According to police, when confronted by officers inside his residence on Willis Avenue between Bruckner Boulevard and East 132nd Street, Colon refused to show his hands and step out of the room, responding with “It’s not going to happen.”
Colon, who has a history of violent criminal activity including a murder conviction from 2013, a rape conviction from 1997, and an attempted murder arrest in 1995, was shot by one officer during the incident. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital and pronounced dead.
Colon’s girlfriend, Marivel Antoinette, described him as her “ride-and-die partner” for two years, stating that police damaged their door to gain entry without identifying themselves as officers. She said she should have stayed in the room with him because he was “her king.”
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that bodycam footage shows officers were given permission to enter the residence and that the gun was hidden in the bedroom.
