Abdi Nur Salah, a former top aide to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and convicted participant in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, was arrested on July 11 after allegedly refusing to submit to a chemical test for driving under the influence.
According to records from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Salah was apprehended around 7:35 a.m. local time. Police reported that the officer detected a burnt chemical odor and discovered white powdery residue and straws in the vehicle.
Salah pleaded guilty in January 2025 to stealing funds from a government program intended to feed children during the coronavirus pandemic. As part of his plea agreement related to the massive Feeding Our Future scam, he agreed to forfeit $343,418.98 from his credit union account and two real estate properties.
Salah was released on Tuesday on a $6,000 bond, according to jail records.
