Violent Outbreak at Laurel Shopping Center After Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Police report three people were shot and two others stabbed in what authorities describe as apparently unrelated incidents in the parking lot of the Centre at Laurel shopping center in Laurel, Maryland, following a large Cinco de Mayo celebration that concluded late Tuesday night.

Investigators said the disturbances began just after 10 p.m. when a significant crowd assembled at Amigos Mexican Grill, part of the shopping center, for the event. Social media posts indicated numerous groups of people inside and outside the restaurant.

Police were dispersing the crowd as the celebration ended when at least one person fired shots. Three individuals were wounded in front of Longhorn Steakhouse, which is located next to Amigos Mexican Grill.

Video footage shared on social media shows several males arguing and punching each other near the steakhouse before a burst of gunfire was audible. Witnesses reported that people began running away as soon as the shooting commenced.
