A former Washington, D.C., police officer has been charged with the rape of half a dozen women he met through online dating apps.
Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter stated that digital evidence from devices owned by 30-year-old Timothy Valentin shows he allegedly sexually assaulted women in Maryland and Virginia.
Investigators are asking for public assistance to identify additional potential victims.
Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire explained: “Through the course of this investigation, detectives learned that Valentin met women through online dating platforms, taking them on dates where it was believed he could have added substance to their beverages that they were drinking, later sexually assaulting them.”
Valentin faces 32 criminal charges over the alleged assaults and is accused of using aliases with his victims. Additional charges are pending.
Porter confirmed there is “no evidence” that Valentin committed any crimes while serving as an officer.
Valentin was listed among officers honored for extraordinary heroism during the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot and received a ribbon of valor from the Metropolitan Police Department in 2021.
