A former middle school teacher in New Jersey has been indicted by a Gloucester County Grand Jury on 12 counts of child sexual abuse. Ashley A. Fisler, who previously went by the name Ashley Sulla, faces up to 20 years in state prison for each count of first-degree sexual assault of a minor.
According to prosecutors, Fisler had an “unlawful sexual relationship” with a minor student at Orchard Valley Middle School when he was in her classroom. The alleged victim, now an adult, told investigators that they engaged in multiple sexual encounters during 2021 in Fisler’s vehicle and classroom.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that text messages recovered between May 2023 and January 2026 show Fisler admitted to the abuse. In one message from December 2023, the victim reported feeling “struggling in school because he’s getting erections more frequently,” prompting Fisler to respond: “Oh my God, that’s fantastic.”
Fisler also told investigators she had a pattern of misconduct and admitted: “I take the blame for all of this.” In texts, she confessed: “I feel like I forced you to grow up abnormally quick.”
Prosecutors stated that Fisler offered to buy a sex toy for the teen and instructed him to send photos of his genitals. The assistant prosecutor noted that Fisler’s messages from 2023 included admissions of causing significant harm.
Defense attorney Rocco Cipparone argued the text messages were taken out of context and sent years after the alleged crimes, claiming there was no evidence from the period when the assaults occurred due to technical limitations. He also suggested the victim may have a financial motive for reporting the case.
Fisler is currently held in Salem County Jail without bail pending trial.
