Milly Alcock’s ‘Weird Ownership’ Remarks Trigger Immediate Backlash Before Supergirl Theatrical Debut

Australian actress Milly Alcock, 25, has drawn criticism for her recent remarks about societal attitudes toward women’s bodies ahead of the release of her upcoming film adaptation of the comic book character Supergirl.

Speaking to a major publication just before the movie’s theatrical debut, Alcock stated that “these movies are so bad that they have to start attacking the fans before the movie even comes out.” She referenced her experience working on the “House of Dragon” prequel series, saying it made her aware that “simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies.”

Alcock added, “I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”

The actress’ comments, which she made after her work on the “Game of Thrones” franchise follow-up series, have been met with immediate backlash online. Her film is scheduled for release in theaters on June 26.
