Mobile Woman Convicted After Pouring Drain Cleaner on Friend in Life-Altering Attack

A Mobile woman was convicted of first-degree assault after she heated drain cleaner in a microwave and splashed it onto her friend, causing severe burns that left the victim with permanent disabilities including hearing loss in one ear and limited vision in the left eye.

The attack occurred on February 25. Quicheay Williams had been invited by Jasmine Clausell to live at her home after finding her friend homeless on February 11. Two weeks later, Williams became enraged when asked to move out of the residence.

During a heated argument, Williams poured liquid similar to Draino into the microwave and heated it before splashing the substance onto Clausell. She also drew a gun on her friend.

Clausell suffered burns covering one-third of her left body, requiring multiple skin grafts. The injuries resulted in the loss of her left eardrum, permanent hearing loss in that ear, and limited eyesight in the left eye. She underwent laser treatments to reduce scarring.

The victim, a nursing student and single mother of a four-year-old boy, expressed gratitude for the verdict: “Justice was served today, and me and my family are just grateful that the jurors saw what it was and justice was served.”

District Attorney Keith Blackwood stated, “This week was the time in court where that was proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Williams is now awaiting sentencing and could face up to 20 years in prison.
