Sky-High Home Prices Block Young Americans from Wealth Amid U.S. Economic Progress

Inflation has cooled and jobs remain steady, but sky-high home prices continue to obstruct younger Americans from building wealth, starting families, and regaining economic confidence.

The latest economic data indicates the United States is finally moving in the right direction.

Inflation is slowing. Production is expanding. Unemployment claims are subdued. After years of punishing price increases, Americans are now entering the long process of rebuilding the purchasing power lost during the Biden administration.

Recovery will take time. However, slower inflation, stronger production, and rising real income suggest that the healing process may have begun.

This turnaround won’t be quick. Prices will not return to 2019 levels. Yet, a more disciplined federal government, lighter regulation, and robust private-sector output can gradually ease the affordability crisis.

June marked the largest monthly decline in headline consumer prices in six years, with overall prices falling by 0.4 percent — driven by sharp drops in oil and gasoline costs.
