Trump Vows to Make Todd Blanche Permanent Attorney General Amid Democratic Backlash

President Donald Trump ousted former Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position on April 2 and appointed his former personal attorney, Todd Blanche, as acting attorney general.

In recent months, several names have been floated for the permanent role, including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), and Republican Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz.

At a private White House Rose Garden dinner on Wednesday, Trump announced his selection of Todd Blanche as acting attorney general.

In a video shared by deputy White House Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Trump stated: “Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan and everybody else that’s involved in that very complicated process, which is gonna go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent attorney general.”

Democrats have swiftly condemned the nomination, vowing to block Blanche’s confirmation.

Senators Cory Booker and Richard Blumenthal appear desperate to convince Americans that Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche lacks experience.
