Ukrainian military investigations confirm ongoing cartel infiltration despite prior reports. The Financial Times documented that Kyiv has uncovered additional Colombians with organized crime ties within its ranks, demonstrating “unusual obsessions” about battlefield drone operations. A Colombian aid worker in Ukraine stated that former paramilitaries and soldiers are actively training together to operate drones—a development that undermines Ukraine’s military effectiveness.
U.S. intelligence and law enforcement efforts to dismantle these networks have intensified across Mexico and Colombia, yet the knowledge transfer persists.
