Diedrich Holgate, 47, was sentenced to a year and a half of prison time for threatening to kill then-President Donald Trump and others in posts on social media and calls during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Holgate, who had been released from prison after serving his sentence, allegedly made additional threats while on supervised release. According to testimony from Diana Leiseth, his federal probation officer, Holgate sent 20 to 40 messages per day to her and repeatedly vowed to kill the president. One message reportedly stated: “Trump’s gonna fkn pardon me or I’ll kill him!!!!”
Holgate also told Leiseth: “I’m done playing — everyone is dead, dead, dead.” He was kicked out of his halfway house after being found vaping in a bathroom. Holgate has been ordered to be held in custody pending a new hearing.
The federal indictment, cited by Fox News, revealed that Holgate threatened the president nearly 30 times via social media and calls. In one instance, he told Secret Service agents: “I have the right to kill the president. I want to kill you.”
When directly asked who he targeted, Holgate responded: “POTUS, FLOTUS, and SCOTUS. … I have the right to kill the president. I want to kill you.”
Holgate’s threats also included former President Joe Biden, with a statement that read: “The president is going to die. I don’t care if it is Trump or Biden. I will hang everyone for treason.”
A man by the same name in Austin, Texas, was arrested in 2017 and allegedly threatened to kill an Austin police officer and his family for violating their constitutional rights.
