Skepticism has grown over whether Darline Graham, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham (R), is qualified to hold her brother’s U.S. Senate seat after she made a troubling admission during a debate with Republican Ralph Norman on Tuesday.
Graham was appointed last month by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to complete her brother’s term following Lindsey Graham’s death on July 11, having previously served as a commissioner for the South Carolina Commission for the Blind.
Both candidates advanced from the special GOP primary held on August 11 and are now competing in the runoff ballot scheduled for August 25.
During a debate moderated by Greta Van Susteren, Graham was questioned about critical U.S. national security issues. When asked whether Taiwan and the South China Sea constitute national security concerns for America, her response raised further questions among observers.
